6 Ailments You Never Knew A Chiropractor Could Treat

Posted on

When you think chiropractic care, you probably immediately think 'back pain'. You might be surprised to learn that chiropractors treat more than just back pain. In fact, there is a wide variety of ailments that can be treated by a chiropractor. Here are some problems that a chiropractor, such as one at Hidden Valley Chiropractic, could assist in treating.

Insomnia

When your spine isn't properly aligned, the pain and discomfort that you body feels can send mixed signals to the brain. You don't even have to be able to feel the pain for the signals to be off. The stress response that your brain receives can make it difficult for you to sleep at night. Not getting enough sleep can lead to mental disorders, mood swings, and even a compromised immune system. Don't wait too long to see a chiropractor. While chiropractic adjustment doesn't guarantee that you will sleep better, it's worth a try before taking addictive medications to help you sleep or being tired all the time.

Ear Infections

Millions of infants and toddlers experience chronic ear infections. Between physical obstructions and a less nutritious diet, children these days are experiencing ear infections more often. The most common reason is because the eustachian tube in the ear isn't angled properly to allow proper drainage. This happens with many children at a young age, then later on, the inner ear corrects itself as children get older. This  doesn't mean that you child is doomed to live through painful ear infections or surgery for tubes. A chiropractor can adjust your child's  neck and manipulate the bones to allow for better ear drainage. A few trips to the chiropractor could end your child's chronic ear infections for the rest of his or her life.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

You have probably seen people with braces on their wrist after becoming diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. The injury became more common after personal computers began to take over people's homes. Carpal Tunnel is a repetitive motion injury that can be developed after repetitive use with your hands including computer work and maintenance. Many people are given a wrist brace and some pain medication. If rest and medication doesn't heal the wrist, then surgery is involved. However, there is something else you can try before submitting to surgery: chiropractic care. Joint manipulation of the wrist, arm and spine, in addition to ultrasound therapy and wrist braces, can greatly improve your chances of recovering from Carpal Tunnel without any surgery involved.

Headaches

Headaches are often caused by pressure put on nerves and muscles from a misalignment in the spine. Chiropractors can relieve your chronic headaches by adjusting the neck and back and removing the pressure. If you have constant tension headaches, one neck adjustment can help immediately. However, seeing a chiropractor on a weekly or monthly basis can keep those headaches at bay for the long-term.

Osteoporosis

While a chiropractor can't magically make your bones less brittle, he or she can greatly help with issues that arise from osteoporosis. Chiropractors don't stop at adjustments. They also teach exercises, stretches, and relaxation techniques for different medical issues. The exercise and relaxation, paired with spinal manipulation, can help with your osteoporosis by helping you get into better shape so you don't fall and injure yourself as often. With nutritional and exercise help from your chiropractor, you can slow the effects of osteoporosis as well.

Low Immune System

If you seem to catch every cold or illness that goes around, receiving chiropractic care can boost your immunity. Studies have proven that receiving a chiropractic adjustment immediately boosts immune response in the human body; therefore, regular adjustments can help you avoid illness, and getting adjusted while sick can help you recover more quickly.

If you get sick easily, have headaches, or even something as severe as osteoporosis, you can get help from a chiropractor. Chiropractors do more than just temporarily relieve pain. They help the body achieve the alignment it needs to function properly.
